Parent Partnerships

Parents are the most important people in their children's lives.

It is from parents that children learn most, particularly in the early months and years. The parents and extended family provide both the context in which this learning occurs and the continuity between different settings. As children progress into early education their learning continues to be most strongly influenced by the home.

The closer the links between parents and Bright Beginnings the more effective the learning and care becomes.

We aim to communicate in the following ways:

Parents will be made to feel welcome in the Bright Beginnings Centre and encouraged to look at what is going on whenever they have time.

Parents are reassured that their views and beliefs will be recognised and accepted.

There will be regular newsletters and written communication. We intend to inform parents on all that is happening in the Centre and on going events, giving dates on topics followed in play areas, relay information about the curriculum offered, provide dates for their diary. The newsletter will contain information from the staff team, parents/parent group including any information from a range of external sources that may have useful information to pass onto parents.

There will be an open session, when parents can view, work produced, activities completed and generally discuss their child's/children's daily routines/activities with staff.

Individual child reviews will take place approximately every six months. Parents will be given the opportunity to discuss privately the individual progress and development of their child, along with their child's key person.

Baby Day Sheets will be maintained for children, under one, recording events/action carried out during the child's day, these enable parents to gain information about what has taken place that day, e.g. feeding, nappy changes etc.

Child Portfolios - these record each child's individual progress, development and achievements, parents are also encouraged to add information and evidence from home to add to and enhance a complete picture of your child's record of their development. Parents are encouraged to read the profile regularly.

For children leaving the Centre to start main stream school a summative report will be completed in addition to the portfolio, this will pass important information to your child's new teacher, about their achievements and development. The key person will complete this report.

In order to encourage parents to be active and express their views a questionnaire will be distributed. This questionnaire is intended to seek the views of parents about the day to day running of the Centre, the care, curriculum, hours, fees, the environment and management of the centre.

Social Evenings will be held throughout the year, giving us all an opportunity to get to know one another and have a 'fun' time all together as a family.

There is a Parents Notice Board positioned in the Main Entrance Way of the Centre. Regular notices, bulletins and information leaflets will be positioned here. Contact names for Parent Group Representatives are also displayed here.

Fund Raising - staff supplement the Centre budget for toys and equipment by carrying out a range of fund raising activities throughout the year.

Emails - Emails are a fast and effective way of communicating. We will send reminders and newsletters to parents on a regular basis to help save the environment on printing paper. Parents are welcome to contact the centre by email.
